Restorative Dentistry

Restorative Dentistry

Every day you use your mouth for a variety of things – eating, chewing, talking. It’s important that your mouth functions properly, otherwise it takes a lot of extra work to do the things your mouth does each day. Our restorative dentistry options bring back complete functionality to your smile, ensuring your mouth is healthy and happy. Nature gave you the best possible smile, which is why we focus on correcting issues with your natural teeth first, before moving to extraction. Removing diseased teeth is not the only option, however many patients believe that their teeth are beyond the scope of help. Our restorative dentistry options can remove decay, combat structural problems, and even tackle infections and disease.

If you’ve already lost a tooth, or if we do discover that extraction is the best option for your oral health, we have a variety of options for a replacement that can complete your smile and restore functionality once again. Every restoration we provide is crafted using safe, high-quality materials which extend the longevity of your smile, allowing you the ultimate use of your mouth. Our restorations are created to mimic your natural appearance, and they never look fake or flashy. With our cosmetic dentistry experience, we’re able to ensure your smile looks as great as it feels, and we use those same techniques when crafting our restorations. Your smile doesn’t just have to work flawlessly, it has to look fabulous too!

Fillings

Fighting decay quickly and effectively is essential to avoiding more complex problems. When decay is present, we’ll offer dental fillings as a treatment. Tooth fillings are one of the most common restorations performed in dentistry and are safe and effective in removing decay and preserving your natural teeth. We use tooth-colored composite resin for our fillings, which blend with your natural teeth and create a more pleasing appearance. Once cured, our fillings are durable and you’ll be back to your daily routine in no time, free of pain from decay.

Crowns/Bridges

When the structural integrity of your tooth has been compromised, it can be strengthened with a dental crown. Dental crowns are porcelain “caps” that fit over the damaged tooth and are permanently bonded in place. The repair is seamless and can fix breaks, chips, and cracks in your natural teeth. We recommend dental crowns for teeth that have received endodontic therapy.

Dental bridges use dental crowns to secure either a single prosthetic or a series of prosthetics as a replacement for missing teeth. Bridges are fixed in place and are anchored by dental crowns, secured to your natural teeth on both sides of the gap created by the missing teeth. Our dental crowns and bridges are always metal-free and are crafted of the highest quality porcelain.

Partials

There are many options for replacing missing teeth. Partials are great for patients who have some healthy teeth remaining and want a removable prosthetic replacement as opposed to a fixed dental bridge. Partials are held in place by metal clasps that attach to your natural teeth. Every partial denture we create is custom-made for your individual smile, and our prosthetics are natural-looking and seamless as a restoration. You don’t know what you’re actually missing until you have a complete, beautiful smile. Ask us if partials can give you the beautiful, full smile you deserve.

Dentures

Dentures are an option for patients who have lost an entire arch of teeth, whether top, bottom, or both. Our dentures are custom-created to ensure they fit perfectly and complete your smile in the most aesthetically pleasing way possible. Our traditional dentures are held in place by natural suction, for a perfectly comfortable fit. We also offer implant-retained dentures, which are secured through dental implants. If you’re considering dentures or are looking for an upgrade, discover all that Comprehensive Dental Care of Mt. Carmel has to offer.

Endodontics

An infected tooth can become very painful. Once a tooth has abscessed, in order to save it, we may recommend a root canal. Some patients shudder at the mere mention of this procedure; however, we keep your comfort as our top priority. We’ll remove the diseased pulp and restore total functionality to your tooth, sometimes offering additional support through a dental crown. We perform anterior and premolar endodontics in the comfort and convenience of our office. Your natural teeth are always best, so we’ll try to save them whenever possible.

Oral Surgery

Sometimes, you have to have a natural tooth extracted for the overall health of your teeth. If we recommend an extraction, rest assured you’re in the best hands possible. We do all oral surgery in our office, with the exception of bony impactions, which we will happily refer to a skilled specialist. We’ll completely prepare you for your surgery, offering prior and post-op instructions, and keeping you fully aware of the process each step of the way. Feel free to ask us any questions, as we’ll happily address your concerns. We want your surgery to go as smoothly as possible, and we take your comfort and satisfaction very seriously.

Technology

The dental drill is notorious for being loud and frightening to many patients. While it’s an important tool in dentistry, we understand why it can turn patients away from visiting the dentist. At our office, we employ air abrasion technology, a minimally-invasive alternative to the dental drill. Air abrasion is noiseless and harmless and makes the process of preparing a tooth for restoration or dental fillings easier and more effective. We also use digital photography when determining the best placement of our restorations, and to ensure a perfect fit.
